Later Work
Many of the pictures painted from the 1990s onwards flow from Ann Langford Dent’s imagination. Her travels overseas prompting her to review her approach about creating art in the studio and on location.
“I needed to find a swift way to record what I was seeing without using a camera or drawing attention to myself. Working quickly was a liberating experience."
Working as Artist in Residence for the Aldeburgh Festival (1998) also influenced Ann’s views about her art.
“The beautiful and sometimes challenging music inspired me to interpret what I was seeing quite differently. I drew on my imagination and found myself applying colours I had rejected in the past."
